Microsoft Office Specialist National Competition (MOS)
The Certiport Microsoft Office Specialist (MOS) National Competition tests students’ skills in Microsoft Office Word, Excel and PowerPoint. Participants are required to compete in the following categories;
- Category A – Ages 13 – 22 (Secondary and Tertiary Students Only)
- Category B – Ages 18 – 28 (Tertiary Students and National Youth Service Corps Members Only)
Please note that students cannot compete in more than one category.
Each student competes in their exam category:
- Microsoft Word (Office 2019),
- Microsoft Excel (Office 2019),
- Microsoft PowerPoint (Office 2019)
- Microsoft Word (Microsoft 365 Apps)
- Microsoft Excel (Microsoft 365 Apps)
- Microsoft PowerPoint (Microsoft 365 Apps)
at approved Certiport academic testing centres nationwide during the competition period, which ends on 30 April. Certified students earn MOS certificates that are globally recognized by employers and institutions. They also earn college credits in American Universities.
Their scores will be registered for the MOS National Competition. Top School scorers who meet the cut-off mark will be invited to the National Competition at designated Certiport centres nationwide in May/June.
Top scorers in each exam category at the national competition will be declared winners. Winners will be rewarded with cash prizes and plaques. In addition, Category A winners will proceed to represent Nigeria at the Certiport Microsoft Office Specialist World Championship usually held in July in the United States of America, sponsored by Zenith Bank PLC.
Please note that national winners will represent Nigeria at the World Championship in the year following the year of national competition. This allows time to process the necessary United States visas for the team.
NATIONAL COMPETITION PRIZES (ALL 6 PROGRAMS) IN CATEGORY A
- Student Winner – ₦150,000 + Sponsored participation at the world championship
- Student 1st Runner Up – ₦100,000
- Student 2nd Runner Up – ₦75,000
ICT Unit Prize in ALL categories
- Teacher of Winner – ₦150,000
- Teacher of 1st Runner Up – ₦100,000
- Teacher of 2nd Runner Up – ₦75,000
The ICT Teacher of the highest student scorer will accompany the Nigerian team to the Microsoft Office Specialist World Championship, USA
Teacher’s Eligibility:
- Must be the teacher of the highest Student Scorer at the current MOS National Competition – Category A
- 100 students in your school must be certified Microsoft Office Specialists in the school in the year of the competition
- 50 students in your school must be certified during the current MOS National Competition
WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP PRIZES IN SIX EXAM CATEGORIES
- Student Winner – $8,000
- 1st Runner Up – $4,000
- 2nd Runner Up – $2,000
