ReadManna Empowerment Initiative (REI), a not-for-profit company focused on empowering students and teachers in Nigeria with practical and relevant basic computer skills through training, digital certification, conference and competitions aligned to global standards
ReadManna partners with Certiport Inc., a Pearson Company, to offer curriculum-based computer training and international certifications to individuals.
ReadManna offers all Certiport programs (IC3, MOS, MCE, MTA, EC – Council, Apple’s Swi Coding, Unity, Autodesk, Adobe, QuickBooks) and provides technical support to all Certiport Academic Testing Centers (CATCs) in Nigeria.
REI organizes the following ICT competitions for Nigerian students annually:
- Microsoft Office Specialist World Championship (MOSWC)
- Adobe Certified Professional World Championship (ACPWC)
- ReadManna Under13 Compu ng Fundamentals National Competition
- ReadManna National Coding Competition
- ReadManna National AutoCAD Competition
Zenith Bank PLC partners with REI to sponsor the National Winners of the MOSWC to the World Championship held annually in the United States of America.
OUR WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP TRACK RECORD
Over 50 secondary schools from various states in Nigeria compete annually in our competition.
The performance of our national champions at the World Championships during the past four years is set forth below.
- 2019 – 8Th Word 2013
- 2018 – 8th in Microsoft PowerPoint 2016
- 2017 – 3rd in Microsoft Word 2016
- 2016 – 10th in Microsoft PowerPoint 2013
- 2015 – 10th in Microsoft Excel 2010
- 2014 – 2nd in Microsoft Word 2007
Our victory in 2014 made Nigeria the first country in Africa to finish in the top three positions since the Championships began.
TEACHERS’ ICT PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT
REI offers quarterly ICT workshops to teachers to empower them to acquire relevant and current digital skills required to teach in the 21st century. These workshops can be organized in interested schools that have a minimum of 25 teachers. Teachers are encouraged to become Microso Certified Educators (MCE).

OUR CERTIFICATION PROGRAMS
These programs include the IC3 Digital Literacy Certification (Ic3), Microso Office Specialist, HP, QuickBooks and Adobe Certified Associate programs.
IC3 Digital Literacy Certification (Ic3)
Certiport IC3 is the world’s first certification programme for basic digital literacy. Students and teachers who achieve IC3 certification possess the validated skills and knowledge required for basic use of computer hardware, so ware, networks, and the internet. Not only are they given tools for success in today’s classroom but also for higher education, employment and life.
Microsoft Office Specialist (MOS)
Microsoft Office Specialist is the official certification programme for demonstrating desktop productivity skills sought around the world such as Microso Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Outlook, Project and Access. This programme empowers individuals with the skills they need in today’s most commonly used desktop programs.
The Microsoft Cer fied Educator (MCE)
This program provides robust tools that help educators drive best-in-class integration of information and communication technology (ICT) into classroom instruction. Mapped to the UNESCO ICT Competency Framework for Educators, MCE represents a valid and reliable way to measure the effectiveness of your investment in ICT and professional development. Educators holding an MCE certification have the tools and skill sets to break through limitations of geography and resources, and begin to apply their knowledge to provide a customized learning experience for their students using technology.
Adobe Certified Professional (ACP)
The ACP certification program will help educators effectively teach and validate digital communication skills while providing students with credentials that demonstrate real-world prowess to prospective employers and academic institutions.
There are six ACA certifications currently available:
- Web Authoring Using Adobe Dreamweaver
- Interac ve Media Communica on Using Adobe Flash Professional
- Video Communica on Using Adobe Premiere Pro
- Visual Communica on Using Adobe Photoshop
- Graphic Design & Illustra on Using Adobe Illustrator
- Print & Digital Media Publica on Using Adobe InDesign
MICROSOFT TECHNOLOGY ASSOCIATE
The Microso Technology Associate (MTA) certification is specifically targeted at students who are interested in computer science, coding, and advanced IT careers.
The MTA covers these exam categories – Java, Javascript and Python
AUTOCAD
An Autodesk Certified User certification in AutoCAD validates the entry-level skills needed to effectively use AutoCAD software. Knowledge demonstrated includes creating or plotting drawings, editing objects, working with layouts, etc. The exam covers the basic use of AutoCAD so ware as well as basic drafting and design techniques.
